As per usual, I am performing live quite frequently and listening to Billie Holiday records, but I have two big and exciting shows coming up which I would like to share! First is May 18th at The Little Bean Cafe in Kitchener. It’s my E.P. Release party! The night is going to be so much fun. If anyone knows me, they know I am a social butterfly who, when given wine, glows in the dark. Tickets are $20 at the door and include a copy of the E.P. Make sure you get there early because capacity might fill up quickly.

The second is The Summer Solstice show at The Victoria Park Pavillion in Victoria park. I am opening for Ashley McIsaac. Tickets are $45 advance and  proceeds go to Heartwood Place!

It’s finally here! The video we’ve been planning before I even went out West. When I got back to Toronto from L.A., we  went into Orange Studios and filmed this little promo for “King”. What an incredible experience. All of the crew involved (albeit small) were so talented and I feel produced something I’m super proud of. The piano I played in this video has been responsible for the record making of Dave Brubeck and Oscar Peterson. This song is so relevant in my life right now. Strength is my word of the day. So sit back, relax, and enjoy a sneak peak at the musical soundtrack to the Showcase Network TV series, “King”.

I just finished shooting a promo video for Showcase Network’s “King” television show.
If you’ve watched the show, you’ll have heard my voice/music in the background!

We went to the amazing Orange Lounge Studio in downtown Toronto, above Tattoo Rock Parlour and recorded me singing a song off of episode 201, “Crown of Flames”. Lots of people have been asking about that one, so we have a stellar video in the works to be released soon.

Trevor Yuile is the genius composer who scores every episode with incredible original music.

In other news, my cd is going online MONDAY! So get ready for some rootsy awesomeness. It’s my songs, stripped down, just for you.

So many exciting things are in the works right now. Check out the BONUS TRACK below and here’s a little photo of me working the Orange Lounge piano. Dave Brubeck and Oscar Peterson have both recorded albums on the piano I played, I am a lucky son-of-a-carpenter.

I just wanted to give you the heads up that I am in the process of finishing a new record.
I honestly couldn’t be more excited to have this release happen. The official online Itunes release and physical release is April 2012. In the meantime, I am mixing away at River Edge Studio in Kitchener with the talented Mark Fortuna. I had the pleasure of recording it with bassist Brendan White and cajon extraordinaire Sam Dlugokecki. It’s a live-off-the-floor project that we also had professionally filmed by 2D studios in Kitchener. Everyone involved was so talented and I am so excited. The videos are going to be amazing.
Being an independent artist has its challenges, but projects like this are its awards.

Valentines day is fast approaching and in honour of it, I thought I’d perform a song for you.
A sort of electronic disclaimer of my romantic criteria.
I mean, there are obviously much deeper qualities upon which mate selection is based. Spiritual and emotional connection, for instance. Those are better suited, though, to a cheesy slow song which you will hear PLENTY of on the airwaves February 14th.
I am here to offer you a more honest and poignant portrayal into the mind of yours truly.

Alysha Brillinger here…here being Hollywood, California!

That’s right. I left my igloo in Canada because I was invited to come to award winning director/producer Martin Gigi’s film premiere, as well as sing at the after party at the historical House Of Blues on Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood.

The Doors, Prince, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix all spent regular time at The Bars in West Hollywood ( where I happen to be staying ) and I got to play at one of its prime venues last night!

The film I saw is called “Beneath The Darkness” starring Dennis Quaid. Very entertaining film with an amazing soundtrack. Greg Allman and Edgar Winter are part of it. Last night I was able to watch and perform with musicians who were on it and it was amazing!

I am having such a blessed time here. Meeting some fantastic people and soaking up the beautiful sun. Oh, also, oranges taste 100% better in California. Fun fact.
